The chairman of Lagos State Parks and Garages management committee, Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, led a 5-million-man walk in support of the All Progressives Congress, Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Kashim Shettima, and Lagos State Governor, Bababjide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Femi Hamzat, towards the 2023 general elections.
The rally, which took place in the early hours of Sunday amid heavy rain, crippled vehicular and pedestrian movements in Lagos and attracted a large number of supporters who converged on Teslim Stadium and National Stadium, Surulere.
Some Nollywood stars, led by Saidi Balogun, were also present, wearing various colours of Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu insignia.
Armed security personnel led by Nigeria Police, DSS, and the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, LNSC, among others protected residents and participants.
MC Oluomo said the decision to hold the rally as planned was made after approval from APC chieftains and stakeholders in the state.
The rally dubbed the “Mother of All Rallies,” began at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos State, and proceeded down to Funsho Williams Avenue to the Bolade Oshodi area.
In his words: “This is a mega rally, we are shutting Lagos down for Asiwaju Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu.
“This is to show our support, strength and capacity for APC candidates because they are the best for the job at hand.”
