Germany on Saturday, experienced severe train disruptions, leaving numerous passengers stranded as authorities worked to fix a technical issue.
According to CNN, the problem, a radio communications failure, had a significant impact on train services in central Germany, particularly affecting the Frankfurt area.
Deutsche Bahn reported that the technical malfunction led to widespread train cancellations in and around Frankfurt.
The disruption halted traffic through the major travel and financial center, leaving hundreds of passengers at Frankfurt’s Central Station uncertain about when their journeys could continue.
The Rhine/Main Regional Transport Association, a major transport organization in Germany, announced via social media that “train services in the RMV area have been suspended until further notice” due to the communication fault. This suspension affected both S-Bahn and regional trains.
The cause of the technical fault remains unknown. However, later in the day, Deutsche Bahn updated that the issue had been addressed.
“Rail traffic in central Germany is starting up again. There may be disruptions until the end of the day,” Deutsche Bahn stated.
Frankfurt, a crucial European transport hub, operates around 1,200 local and long-distance trains daily, according to Tagesschau.
