The Taraba State Police Command has onfirmed an explosion at a drinking joint in Jika Doruwa, Jalingo, the state capital.
The bomb blast was coming after few hours after an attack in Takum LG Council of the state led to the death of a driver, the burning of two pickup vans and cattle by armed bandits.
The Command’s Spokesman, , Abdullahi Usman, while confirming the incident on Monday said the explosion occured on Sunday night.
However, the number of casualties from the incident could not be ascertained as of press time.
PPRO Usman said an anti-bomb squad of the command have been deployed to the area to document the level of damages caused by the explosion.
Reports revealed that the affected areas have been cordoned off by security operatives.
The explosion which reportedly occurred around 9pm, was said to have left several persons with various degrees of injuries, most of whom are undergoing treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo.
According to an eyewitness identified as Peace Danjuma, said “We were at a local joint called Jika when something under the chair we were sitting on exploded.”
While narrating how the explosion took them unawares, Peace said one of her friends sustained injuries, vowing never to visit such place again if and when her friend eventually recuperates.
The State Police Command, meanwhile, said details of the unfortunate incident would be communicated to the members of the public as soon as their men come up with information.
