In a major personnel shake-up, the Nigerian Correctional Service, Nigerian Immigration Service, Federal Fire Service, and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have promoted a total of 20,867 officers.
According to Vanguard, the announcement was made by the Secretary to the Board, Mr. Ja’afaru Ahmed, in Abuja on Saturday.
According to Ahmed, the promotions encompass officers across various ranks, including Inspectors, Assistant Superintendents, Controllers, Comptrollers, and Commandants.
A breakdown of the numbers shows that 5,329 officers were promoted within the NCoS, 5,112 in the NIS, 489 in the FFS, and a significant 9,937 in the NSCDC.
In addition to the general promotions, special promotions were also granted to select officers. “The board approved special promotions for two NCoS officers, four from NIS, one officer from FFS, and two from NSCDC,” Ahmed stated.
The Board also emphasized its commitment to professional development within these services, approving new career development courses and a training curriculum.
“The board also considered and approved the implementation of a new training curriculum for the institutions and a new scheme of service for the FFS,” Ahmed added.
In a related development, the Board reassured that the ongoing recruitment exercise for the FFS would be completed before the end of September.
