The Osun State Police Command has launched an investigation into the murder of a community Chief of Okutu-Ope area of Ilesa in the state, identified as Gbenga Okotore by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
It was gathered that the deceased was shot at a close range by the armed men who reportedly first shot sporadically into the air before later killed their target.
While Confirming the incident, the state police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola disclosed on Thursday that, the command has commenced an investigation into the matter, assuring that perpetrators of the act would be apprehended and brought to book.
It was revealed that the assailants attacked the deceased in his house and killed him before leaving his residence on the fateful day.
However, the police spokesperson who confirmed the incident had promised that they would do everything in their capacity to fish out the killers and make them to incur the wrath of the law accordingly.
The police said, “Okotore was a chief, a community leader in the area. We have commenced work on the incident and those involved will not escape justice.”
She declared that a team of detectives had begun investigations into the matter and that very soon, those behind the gruesome murder would be arrested and face the penalty.
