Suspected cult members on Friday, shot dead Rabiu Tajudeen, a top official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Osun State.
The gunmen who came in motorcycles also hit the deceased’s daughter, whose name could not be immediately ascertained during the attack.
Tajudeen before his death was working at the Lagos Park branch of the NURTW in Osogbo and often in the company of the chairman of the Oroki Branch of the union, Kazeem Oyewale, also known as ‘Asiri Eniba.’
An eyewitness report confirmed that Tajudeen was shot in front of his wife’s shop located around Ilesa Garage by some unknown assailants, who tracked him to the area.
The eyewitness said, “They shot him at close range. He was directly in front of his wife’s shop at Ilesa Garage when the incident happened. He died on the spot.”
Contacted, the state police spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed that one Rabiu Tajudeen, aged 45, was shot dead by some yet-to-be-identified assailants
Opalola said, “We got the report around 12:40 pm on Friday and we immediately mobilised to the scene. On arrival at the scene, we met the corpse of a male. Information gathered revealed that the deceased named Tajudeen Rabiu aged 45, who was a suspected cultist, was shot dead in front of his wife’s shop at Ilesa Garage area by unidentified persons on a Bajaj motorcycle. The perpetrators fled the scene immediately they committed the crime.”
