The Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar has expressed his grief over the monarch’s death.
In a heartfelt tribute posted on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Thursday, Abubakar described Oba Aromolaran as more than a father-in-law, recounting the warmth and respect the late king always showed him.
“With a heavy heart, I received the news of the passing of the Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran. The late Owa was more than a father-in-law to me. Each time I visited him, he accorded me the homecoming welcome of a son,” Abubakar wrote.
The former vice president further praised the monarch for his qualities, stating, “He was a great monarch and personified the boldness, courage, and discipline of the Ijesha progeny. We all loved him dearly.”
Abubakar extended his condolences to the Owa-in-Council, the people of Ijesha land, and the royal family, praying for the late monarch’s soul to find eternal peace.
The Owa Obokun of Ijesha land, Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran, a revered first-class monarch, passed away in Thursday.
Oba Aromolaran, who ruled for 42 years, had reportedly been ill for some time.
