Two men identified as Musibau Adisa, 55, and Busari Tajudeen, 51, were brought before the Osun State Magistrate Court in Osogbo on Tuesday, facing charges of stealing pre-paid meters.
According to The PUNCH, the defendants allegedly committed the theft in the Arogunmosa Area of Osogbo and were arraigned before Magistrate Mr. Adekanmi Adeyeba.
The police prosecutor, Mr. Rasaq Olayiwola, informed the court that the defendants stole a meter, numbered 45060226300, which belonged to Ibrahim Semiu in May 2024 at Arogunmosa Area, Oke-Baale, Osogbo.
Olayiwola also stated that the defendants allegedly sold the stolen item and fraudulently obtained N80,000 from Oluwakemi Adeniji under the pretense of selling her a prepaid meter.
These actions, according to Olayiwola, violated Sections 516, 390(9), and 419 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 vol. II Laws of Osun State, Nigeria, 2002.
Mr. Kaisemobi Ngwoke, representing the defendants, requested the court to grant them bail on lenient terms.
Magistrate Adeyeba granted the bail request, setting it at N50,000 with one surety each, and scheduled the hearing for August 20, 2024.
