Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen, has been named the Serie A player of the month award for January.
This was disclosed by Serie A on Friday, as it was reported that the Nigerian international defeated four other nominees to win the monthly award.
He joins Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-Jae as the third member of the Napoli team to win Serie A player of the month this season.
Osimhen had an outstanding January for Napoli. The Super Eagles star continually produced outstanding performances for the Partenopeans following the World Cup break, enabling them to maintain and grow their advantage at the top of the Serie A standings.
He currently leads the highest goal scorers chart in the Italian league with 16 goals and three assists in 17 matches.
The lanky Nigerian forward has been linked with a mega money move to English Premier League side, Manchester United.
Also there are speculations that Chelsea have made the Nigerian their top striker target for the summer.
However the club’s owner Aurelio De Laurentiis, has stated that he does not have plans to sell Osimhen as the club is not in any financial situation.
Osimhen has two years left on his contract, giving Napoli the power to demand a hefty sum in exchange for their star player. It might take more than £100 million to wrest Osimhen away.
