Suspected terrorists have reportedly shot one person and abducted ten in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
According to AIT News, an eyewitness, Ibrahim Murtala, said the incident occurred Wednesday night at about 11:47 p.m.
He said the terrorists, who were armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the town and went straight to the residence of the Former member of the House of Representatives who represented Talata Mafara and Anka Federal Constituency, Kabiru Classic, but was unable to enter the house because residents of the area had sighted them trying to scale through the perimeter fence.
He said residents thought they were visitors because they were adorned in white regalia but later discovered that they were terrorists, carrying sophisticated firearms.
Murtala narrated that the suspected terrorists later went from house to house, knocking on people’s doors, whisking away anyone that came out.
He said the terrorists abducted nine construction workers, and one staff member of the Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, KEDC.
He also said that one person was shot in the leg, and is currently receiving treatment at the hospital.
He pointed out that three abducted persons later escaped.
Murtala also explained that the residents put out a distress call to troops, who responded swiftly
but unfortunately, the terrorists had escaped.
Another resident said the terrorists were shooting from all corners of the town.
The swift intervention of the troops, however, restored normalcy.
Zamfara State is one of the hotbeds of violent terrorist attacks, killings, and abductions of innocent citizens in recent times, despite the efforts of the troops to restore peace and order.
