The killing of Folarera Ademola, a student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo State, has sparked protests from students of the school.
The victim was allegedly killed by an officer of the Amotekun Corps in the state.
In a short video shared online, students were seen chanting a mournful dirge while policemen were seen monitoring the situation.
Speaking on the development, the Students’ Union President of the school, Olorunda Oluwafemi, confirmed that the deceased was shot on June 27 by an Amotekun officer in front of his parent’s house.
Oluwafemi stated that the victim sustained gunshot wounds for 10 days before being transported to the Federal Medical Centre in Owo, where he died.
The students marched from the school gate through the Palace of Olowo before taking the protest to Amotekun state office to further press home their demands.
They demanded that the state government release the officer to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation and prosecution; arrange for the burial of the slain student, and compensate his family within the next 24 hours.
