The Ondo State Government has declared Friday, January 17, 2025, as a work-free day for public servants across the state.
The decision aims to enable citizens to travel to their respective communities to participate in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2025.
The announcement was made in a statement issued by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Thursday.
Governor Aiyedatiwa called on all stakeholders to prioritize peace and fairness during the election process.
“I urge everyone involved to ensure that the local government election is conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner across the state,” the governor said.
The work-free day is intended to facilitate increased voter participation as residents return to their hometowns to perform their civic duties.
