Ondo State Government on Thursday cancelled the February edition of the environmental sanitation exercise in the state.
This was contained in a statement by the General Manager, Ondo State Waste Management Authority, Mr. Adefola Omowole.
He said the cancellation is as a result of the ongoing final burial ceremony of former Governor of Ondo State, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
Mr Omowole however urged residents of the state to use the period to clean their surroundings.
He assured residents of the present administration’s commitment towards regaining the lost glory of the cleanest state in the country.
Burial rites for the late governor started last week Thursday and would climax on Sunday with a thanksgiving service.
Akeredolu would be buried on Friday, February 23rd in his hometown Owo, in Owo Local Government Area.
He died on December 27, after a protracted battle with prostate cancer at the age of 67.
