Super Falcons of Nigeria faced a narrow 1-0 loss to Canada in a friendly match held at the La Quinta Football Centre in Malaga, Spain on Wednesday night.
The Olympic champions Canada controlled the early stages of the game, finding the net with the decisive goal in the 18th minute.
Despite numerous opportunities to level the score, the Super Falcons were thwarted by ineffective finishing.
Notably, Paris Saint-Germain’s recent acquisition, Jennifer Echegini, struck the woodwork seven minutes from the end of the match.
This defeat marks the Super Falcons’ first loss in 2024.
Coach Randy Waldrum and his team will now turn their focus to their upcoming match against Brazil in the 2024 Olympics.
The Group C encounter is set to take place at the Stade Bordeaux next Thursday.
