The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, has urged the Eze Ndigbo of Ibadanland, Dr Alex C. Anozie, to continue to be an advocate for peace and unity in the nation.
The monarch gave this urge in a congratulatory letter to commemorate the 26th anniversary of Anozie’s leadership of the Igbo ethnic group in Ibadan, emphasizing the need for all Nigerians to always promote harmony and peaceful coexistence in their respective communities.
In the letter, which was made available to journalists, Oba Balogun commended the Eze Ndigbo for being a symbol of peace and humility, adding that he has exhibited virtuous qualities through his 26 years on the throne as the head of the Igbo ethnic community in Ibadan and Oyo State.
Olubadan cited that since Anozie has been in the leadership position, there has never been any quarrel between Igbos living in Oyo State and their host communities.
The letter read, “I bring you royal greetings from the palace as I felicitate you and the Igbo community, both in Ibadan and the entire Oyo State, on your recent 26th year anniversary as Eze Ndigybo, providing God-fearing leadership to your people.
“It is an undisputed fact that you have weathered a lot of storms in the course of your leadership role, and by the dint of your painstakingness, peaceful approach to issues, and abiding faith in the rule of law, you have triumphed, by the grace of God and the support of your people.
“As you march forward, I implore you to remain your good self as an apostle of love and peace and an advocate of unity and the progress of one Nigeria.
“Almighty God will grant you long life in good health to continue to lead your people as you have been doing and make more contributions to humanity through your God-given knowledge, “the letter concluded.
