The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a truck driver, Johnson Samson, who reportedly slumped inside the cabin of his truck on Monday at Dangote Agro Sack Area, Dangote Cement Plant, Ibese, in the state.
According to The PUNCH, Samson, who was a truck driver attached to Dangote Cement Transport at Ibese, was said to have been later confirmed dead by a doctor who attended to him.
It was learnt that the driver had earlier complained of illness to one of his colleagues, identified simply as Oharisi, and said he wanted take some rest.
The driver who was said to be weak, was advised to go and take some rest inside his truck, which was parked at the agro sack of the factory in Ibese.
After observing that the driver had not returned several minutes later, his colleagues expressed worries, they then decided to send one other colleague to check up on him, where he was found unconscious inside the cabin of his truck.
After the discovery, it was gathered that the colleague alerted others and rushed Samson to one Jaji Clinic, Dangote Ibese, where he was subsequently pronounced dead by the medical staff.
The State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident on Tuesday, explained that there was no suspicion of foul play after examining the body.
She said, “The body was examined by our men. We didn’t discover any violence or foul play. The body has been deposited at the state hospital morgue for postmortem examination.”
