A motorboy named Bolaji Johnson, on Tuesday allegedly disappeared with a truck carrying 600 bags of cement.
According to The PUNCH, the truck driver, Adelakun Joshua, had entrusted Johnson with the task of loading the 600 bags of cement at the Dangote Cement Plant in Ibese, Ogun State, while he remained behind.
After successfully loading the cement, Johnson, the motorboy, reportedly vanished with the truck. Issa Saheed, a truck manager from the Ifytex Company in Ibese, reported the theft to the Imashayi Police Division, mentioning that the truck bore the number plate WDL 643 XA and had been assigned to the driver.
Efforts to locate the missing truck and motorboy proved unsuccessful.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, noting that the motorboy was not known to the company that employed the truck driver.
She also mentioned that the driver is cooperating with the investigation into the incident.
She said, “The incident was reported by the truck manager. We are investigating the incident. The truck driver is also assisting in locating the whereabouts of the truck.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodu, has noted the high rates of conspiracy of drivers and their motorboy in stealing trucks. To check this new trend, there will be more stop-and-search of trucks on the roads.”
