The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has increased the minimum wage for workers in the state from N40,000 to N70,000.
According to The PUNCH, the governor announced the inauguration of the newly built ultra-modern Labour House secretariat complex for labour unions in the state, along Temboga Road, Ikpoba-Hill, Benin City.
According to him, the new wage comes into effect on May 1st, 2024.
This is as the Nigeria Labour Congress battles the Federal Government over increasing the minimum wage to match increasing national inflation and skyrocketing food inflation.
