The National Youth Service Corps has issued a directive for married female prospective corps members who have been posted to states where their husbands do not live to request redeployment.
The announcement was made via a post on X on Monday.
The NYSC stated, “ATTENTION ALL 2024 BATCH ‘B’ STREAM II MARRIED FEMALE PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS
“All married female Prospective Corps members (PCM’s) who are deployed to States where their husbands are not domiciled should report to the nearest NYSC Orientation Camp for their State of Deployment to be changed.
“They are to report during the period of registration at the Orientation Camps with copies of their marital and other relevant documents as evidence. Once the change is made it will reflect on their dashboard for reprinting.”
Established on May 22, 1973, under Decree No. 24, the NYSC is a Nigerian government scheme designed to involve graduates in nation-building and development, fostering common ties and national unity among Nigeria’s youth.
To qualify, graduates must be under 30 years old at the time of graduation.
Those older than 30 receive a Certificate of Exemption, which is equivalent to the NYSC Discharge Certificate.
A successful completion of the service year awards corps members with a certificate of satisfactory participation.
