The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brigadier General Y.D Ahmed, has urged corps members to embrace diversity and strive for excellence in their various places of primary assignment.
Ahmed made this call during the official closing ceremony of the 2023 Batch C Stream II of corps members deployed to Osun State, on Thursday.
Represented by the Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Agbor Ndoma Obim, Ahmed urged the corps members to be responsible citizens of Nigeria.
The NYSC DG also enjoined the corps members to make use of the scheme to not only impact their host communities but also to transform themselves.
He said, “As you prepare to leave this Orientation Camp and embark on your service year in Osun State, and Lagos State, I urge you to remember the lessons you have learned during this Orientation.
“Embrace diversity, be responsible citizens, and strive for excellence in your various places of primary assignment. You are now ambassadors of unity and positive change in Osun State, Lagos State and any state you may redeploy to for those of you going on redeployment.
“The social interactions and cultural exchange fostered unity and tolerance among our diverse Corps Members. This cultural diversity is one of the unique aspect of the NYSC programme that promotes national integration.”
