The Nigeria Premier League board has fined the Heartland FC of Owerri N1 million for the unruly behaviour of their players and officials against Rivers United on Wednesday.
The newly promoted Naze Millionaire hosted the Pride of Rivers at the Okigwe Stadium in the MatchDay 6 of the league.
The game ended 1-1 and the result did not go down well with the fans of the club who decided to encroach on the field which is against the rules of the league board.
Heartland’s players and officials encroached on the pitch to protest a referee’s decision during the game.
The Naze Millionaires will also play their next home game behind closed doors.
The Owerri club had recently been warned by the league organizers for similar disruptive behaviour in a recent home game, hence the decision to sanction them heavily.
Heartland are the only club that have not secured a win in the Nigeria Premier Football League, this season.
They will take on Bayelsa United in their next home game.
