Popular Nigeria singer, David Adeleke, better known by his stage name as Davido has disclosed that there is no difference between R&B and Afrobeats music.
Davido diclosed this during a recent interview with TMZ.
He lauded the Grammy’s new ‘African Awards’ noting that it was special to him because it was the first time he was being nominated.
He said, “The Grammy’s new ‘African Awards’ is special to me because this is the first time I was being nominated and it is the first time an African music was being recognized with our category.”
“We have an African R&B but Afrobeats is the term used to describe our genre of music. Odumodublvck is singing straight Hip Hop but because he is an African they called him an Afrobeats singer.
Davido revealed that Afrobeats sound originally originated from the late veteran singer, Fela Anikulapo Ramsome Kuti.
Davido also noted that it was only in the United Kingdom African music was being glorified back in the days.
