Several fuel stations operated by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited have revised their petrol pump price to N860 per litre, a reduction from N945 per litre recorded on Sunday.
The PUNCH observed the price change at some outlets in Lagos, though NNPCL Retail has yet to release an official statement on the adjustment.
This development follows a recent price cut by Dangote Refinery, which reduced its ex-depot petrol price from N890 to N825 per litre last week.
Efforts to get a response from NNPC spokesperson, Olufemi Soneye, were unsuccessful, as he neither returned calls nor replied to messages.
Confirming the adjustment, the National Vice President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Hammed Fashola, stated, “It is true, NNPC is selling petrol at N860 in the filling stations. Though this has not been reflected on the portal, they told me they are working on updating the portal.”
Similarly, National President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria, Billy Gillis-Harry, also acknowledged the development, saying, “They reduced the pump price earlier this morning but I’m yet to get the details.”
The latest adjustment marks another shift in Nigeria’s petrol pricing landscape, influenced by Dangote Refinery’s decision to introduce a new price regime last Wednesday.
