Gunmen suspected to be bandits launched a deadly attack on Dan Tudu, a community in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to one other person.
A counterterrorism and insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad Basin, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the incident on Monday through a post on his X handle.
“The heavily armed assailants also abducted several men and women and looted valuables worth an unquantifiable amount,” he stated.
According to intelligence reports, the attackers were identified as members of notorious gangs led by Saidu Zango, Bello Turji, and Jammo Baki, who are known to operate around the Gangara axis.
Local accounts revealed that the bandits raided homes, seizing livestock, cash, and other valuables before retreating into the forest with their hostages.
