The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecasted thundery and rainy weather across Nigeria from Monday to Wednesday.
According to NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, Monday will see morning thunderstorms in parts of Kebbi, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi, and Taraba States.
Thunderstorms are also expected later in the day in Zamfara, Taraba, Bauchi, and Kebbi.
Moderate rains are predicted for Nassarawa, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory, and Niger in the morning, with moderate thunderstorms and light rains expected in the afternoon and evening across Niger, the Federal Capital Territory, Nassarawa, Kogi, and Plateau States.
Additionally, rains are anticipated in Cross River and Akwa Ibom during the morning hours, with light to moderate rains in Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Oyo, Ogun, Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Delta later in the day.
On Tuesday, NiMet predicts morning thunderstorms over Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara.
Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon and evening in Bauchi, Taraba, Zamfara, and Kebbi, while moderate rains are forecasted for Niger and Kwara in the morning.
In the afternoon and evening, moderate thunderstorms with rains are anticipated in Plateau, Nassarawa, Benue, and Kogi, with cloudy skies expected over the southern region in the morning.
Intermittent rains are predicted for Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom later in the day.
For Wednesday, morning thunderstorms are forecasted for Sokoto, Borno, Katsina, and Kebbi.
Thunderstorms are expected in Taraba, Kano, Kaduna, and Zamfara later in the day, with cloudy conditions in the North Central region during the morning.
Thunderstorms are anticipated to develop throughout the region as the day progresses, with cloudy skies expected over the southern region in the morning.
In the afternoon and evening, moderate rains are likely across the entire country, with strong winds potentially preceding thunderstorms in some areas.
NiMet has warned of a high probability of urban flooding in major cities due to heavy rainfall.
Residents are advised to avoid flood-prone areas and follow safety advisories from relevant authorities.
