The National Bureau of Statistics has reported that Nigeria’s headline inflation rate fell to 24.48% in January 2025, following the rebasing of the Consumer Price Index.
Statistician General Prince Adeyemi Adeniran announced the figures on Tuesday in Abuja during the launch of the rebased CPI report.
The latest inflation rate marks a significant decline from the 34.80% recorded in December 2024.
According to Adeniran, food inflation for January stood at 26.08% year-on-year, also dropping from 39.84% in the previous month.
“The rebased CPI provides a more accurate reflection of the current inflationary pressures in the country,” he stated.
