Sevilla’s head coach, Garcia Pimienta, has announced that Nigerian winger, Chidera Ejuke, is set to miss some time due to an injury.
Ejuke suffered the setback during Sevilla’s recent 5-1 defeat against Barcelona on Sunday night, where he was substituted just before halftime, making way for Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Following the match, Pimienta provided an update on Ejuke’s condition, stating, “Ejuke is injured, he has felt a twinge in his hamstring and we will see how long it lasts,” as reported on the club’s official website.
The 26-year-old, who has made nine league appearances for the Rojiblancos this season, has managed to find the net once.
This injury comes as a setback for both the player and the club, which is looking to improve its fortunes in the league after a challenging start to the season.
Ejuke’s absence will be felt as Sevilla aims to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
Sevilla struggled with injuries and defensive lapses as Hansi Flick’s Barcelona showcased their dominance, delivering a stunning 5-1 defeat to Garcia Pimienta’s team.
Robert Lewandowski and Pablo Torre each scored twice, with Pedri adding another goal as Barcelona triumphed at Montjuïc.
Despite the disappointing scoreline, Sevilla’s primary concern will be the injuries sustained by Ejuke, Suso, and Pedrosa.
