Team Nigeria won a silver medal at the African Continental Archery Championship holding in Pretoria, South Africa.
Rotimi Williams, Olatayo Olasehinde and Damilola Sholademi who represented Nigeria in the men’s 50m compound bow, won silver, coming second behind South Africa.
In the mixed category comprising both genders, Williams, Sholademi and Kachollom Enyenihi won silver.
This is the first time Nigeria would be attending the African Archery Championship which holds every two years.
In a joint statement, the athletes said, “We are elated to have achieved this for man and country. We will continue to practise and improve on our game to ensure that gold is in sight.
“We went against the highest-rated team in Africa and we did our best.
“With the right equipment and training, we will be at the pinnacle of the sport.”
