The Nigerian Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, on Wednesday revealed why the federal government opted to solicit buy-in from foreign airlines, including Ethiopian Airlines.
According to The Nation, Sirika, stated that the refusal of local airlines to invest in the new national carrier pushed the Federal Government to turn their attention to the foreign airlines.
He also stated that there was no going back on the delivery of the National Carrier – Nigeria Air.
According to him, attempts by some interest groups, including indigenous carriers, to stop the project through legal means will fail.
Sirika stated that while no court of competent jurisdiction has served any notice on the matter on the Ministry of Aviation, no court of competent jurisdiction will allow itself to be used to thwart such a national project.
The Federal High Court in Lagos issued an interim injunction yesterday, preventing the Federal Government and Ethiopian Airlines from establishing a proposed national carrier.
