Following the deployment of comptrollers by the Nigerian Customs Service, comptroller Musa Omale and comptroller Ben Oramalugo have assumed charge of the Sokoto/Zamfara Area command and Kebbi command respectively.
The handing-over ceremony between outgoing comptroller Abdulhamid Ma’aji and new comptroller Musa Omale was held at the area command headquarters in Sokoto, according to LEADERSHIP NEWS.
Omale, joined the Nigeria Customs Service in 1991 as an Assistant Superintendent of Customs and served in various commands and formations, according to a statement signed by the command public relations officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs, AT Abubakar.
Ben Oramalugo, the new comptroller for Kebbi command, has taken over and pledged to continue the good work of his predecessor in generating more income and stepping up the pace of the fight against smuggling in the state.
The new Area comptroller expressed his commitment to carrying out his mission while also urging officers and men of the Command to be devoted to their duty in a speech shortly after taking over in a brief ceremony held at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
“As customs officers, among other things, our primary responsibilities include generating money, facilitating trade, and combating smuggling. Exactly that is what we are going to do. I pledge to do all in my power to carry out those directives. We will always uphold our obligation, he assured. “It’s the trust and confidence that the management, led by Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd), has placed in me,” he said.
The CAC admonished importers and agents to work in accordance with Customs’ current laws and procedures while declaring their goods without deviating from predetermined standards, and it sought the support and understanding of all pertinent players in the state.
