The new Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9, AIG Echeng Echeng, has made his first official visit to the Ebonyi State Police Command, South East of Nigeria.
According to AIT, the AIG demanded that Police operatives double their efforts in crime control by nipping incidents in the bud.
Addressing officers and men at the Ebonyi State Command headquarters in Abakaliki, the AIG charged them to ensure that lives and property are secured and that they exhibit the highest level of discipline and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, avoiding all forms of extortions.
On the insecurity posed by the illegal Monday’s sit-at-home order imposed by the proscribed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, AIG Echeng is “urging the people of the State not to succumb to unfounded rumours and threats by faceless groups, but to go about their normal duties”, assuring that Police operatives are adequately prepared to provide required security in the State.
In a related development, the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Augustina Ogbodo, earlier on Tuesday warned people with criminal intents to “leave the State or face the law”.
CP Ogbodo spoke to Journalists moments after parading eight suspects alleged to be involved in job employment fraud, kidnapping, murder and cultism, among others.
