Amid the ongoing economic hardship been experienced in the country over the scarcity of the new naira notes, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, has urged residents to remain calm, as the Federal Government resolves the situation.
Sanwo-Olu, made this known through a press statement issued on Friday.
He stated that the state government has witnessed the anxiety produced by the sluggish delivery of cash through ATMs and banking rooms.
He stated that he was part of a group that met with President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja to discuss ways to alleviate the hardship caused by the scarcity of the new currency.
The governor then begs locals to remain calm, stating that the government is doing all necessary to restore normalcy to the situation.
”The Central Bank of Nigeria has promised to put measures in place to ensure residents have access to currency notes released to banks,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, protest broke out in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital over fuel scarcity and non availability of the New naira note
Protesters stormed the streets of Ibadan, as well as the state secretariat to drive home their demands of a better livelihood.
It would also be recalled that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Friday during a meeting with the governor’s forum in Abuja stated that Nigerians should give him seven days to address the situation.
“I will revert to the CBN and the Minting Company. There will be a decision one way or the other in the remaining seven days of the 10-day extension,” the President assured
