The newly deployed Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, has promised to collaborate with other security agencies to provide adequate security for the people of the state.
According to Daily Post, CP Gumel made this disclosure as he assumed duty as the 45th commissioner of police on Tuesday.
The command’s spokesman, DSP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa stated this in a statement made available to journalists.
CP Gumel has served in different capacities and is an active member of the intelligence community.
He was redeployed from Sokoto to Kano state and also served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the just concluded supplementary elections in Kano.
He expressed his commitment to the use of intelligence assets for the gathering of reliable evidence and the application of the right technology in fighting all forms of criminal activities across the state.
While urging officers and men of command to demonstrate professionalism in policing, he said he would ensure that an adequate and steady welfare package were provided for them.
He said,, “I will be ready to accept the responsibility of addressing all the real and emerging challenges and work with the communities in providing the needed remedies to all the shortcomings that would keep coming.
“We will work with other sister security agencies in the state in our efforts to provide security to the people of Kano State.”
He also assured the residents he would run a people-friendly policing with fundamental human rights and freedom.
