The Nigerian Education Loan Fund has issued a public warning against a fraudulent website falsely claiming to offer foreign visa sponsorships using NELFUND’s name and logo.
In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Head of Public Relations, Mr. Nasir Ayitogo, emphasized that the website in question is being promoted on Facebook and redirects users to a site called labari.com.ng.
Ayitogo made it clear that NELFUND has no connections with this website or any similar services.
He reiterated that NELFUND’s primary mission is to provide educational loans to eligible Nigerian students for their academic endeavors within the country, not to offer visa sponsorships or any related services.
“NELFUND does not offer visa sponsorships or related services, and any claims to the contrary are entirely false and misleading,” Ayitogo stated.
He highlighted the unauthorized use of NELFUND’s name and logo by the fraudulent website, which aims to mislead the public.
Ayitogo strongly advised the public to be cautious and avoid engaging with the site or sharing any personal information.
He further mentioned that NELFUND has taken immediate action to address the issue, reporting the matter to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
“We urge the public to rely solely on information provided through NELFUND’s official channels, including the website, www.nelf.gov.ng, and verified social media accounts,” Ayitogo added. “
Any communication from NELFUND will be through these channels, and the public are encouraged to verify any suspicious information directly with us.”
