The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has expressed concern over the rising abuse of hazardous substances by youths, as revealed in recent drug seizures in Lagos and Kano.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi highlighted the issue in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, alongside a video of the confiscated substances.
The seized contraband includes New Psychoactive Substances and other drugs with alarming street names such as “Suck & Die,” “Rubber Solution,” “Dead Man,” and “Gelato.”
Babafemi called on parents, guardians, and community leaders to take proactive measures to identify and combat the spread of these substances in their communities.
“Parents, shine your eyes,” Babafemi warned. “Recent seizures by NDLEA officers in Lagos and Kano have uncovered substances with scary names like ‘Suck & Die,’ ‘Rubber Solution,’ ‘Dead Man,’ and ‘Gelato.’ These trends demand vigilance in our homes and communities.”
He urged stakeholders to join the fight against drug abuse by educating youths and fostering an environment that discourages experimentation with dangerous substances.
