According to The PUNCH, among these are the Rano Apex Development Association, the Rano Ce A Gabanmu Development Association, and the esteemed Rano Emirate Council.
This partnership aims to address the increasing drug-related challenges within the Rano area and beyond.
During a recent courtesy visit to the Emir of Rano, ,Muhammad Umaru Kano State NDLEA Commandant Ahmed Ahmed emphasized the urgency of collective action in tackling the pervasive issue of substance abuse.
Speaking on his behalf, Muhd. Kabir, the Area Commander for Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, and Garko, underscored the NDLEA’s commitment to this cause.
Kabir specifically noted the agency’s focus on addressing the widespread misuse of substances such as Fortwin injections and marijuana within the Rano axis, stating, “We’re committed to curbing the alarming abuse of Fortwin injections and marijuana in the Rano axis. This partnership will boost our efforts to prevent drug abuse and support rehabilitation.”
In addition to the existing measures, Kabir revealed plans to establish a rehabilitation center in the Rano local government area.
This center will serve as a critical resource for individuals struggling with addiction, offering support for their recovery.
He also highlighted an upcoming pre-election drug awareness campaign aimed at ensuring a drug-free environment in the lead-up to the local government elections, reflecting the NDLEA’s broader goal of preventive intervention.
The Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umaru, expressed his unwavering support for the NDLEA’s efforts, pledging the cooperation of the Emirate Council in the ongoing battle against substance abuse.
His backing reflects the strong community resolve to eradicate the problem and protect future generations.
In a statement by the Zonal Information Officer for Rano, Rabiu Khalil Kura, it was noted that the visit served to further strengthen the existing partnership between the NDLEA and the Rano Emirate.
This united front is expected to make a significant impact in reducing drug abuse and fostering a safer, healthier environment for the people of Kano State.
