42 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control in the past two weeks.
The cases were reported in the states of Plateau, Lagos, Edo, Kano, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and the Federal Capital Territory.
The NCDC reports that the 42 new cases boosted the total number of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the country to 266,492.
According to The PUNCH, the cases were recorded from December 31, 2022, to January 13, 2023.
“The 13 new cases are reported from two states – Lagos (12) and Edo (one).”
The NCDC also reported that 29 additional confirmed cases were reported across the nation between January 7 and January 13, 2023.
“The 29 new cases are reported from six States- Lagos (15), FCT (5), Kano (four), Nasarawa (three), Kaduna (one), and Plateau (one)
“A multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities.”
In 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria has so far reported 266,492 COVID-19 confirmed cases, 3,155 fatalities, and 259,858 people that have been discharged.
No less than 64,094,511 of the total eligible population targeted for the COVID-19 immunization have received every dose as of January 10, 2023. This percentage corresponds to 55.5% of the target population.
