Current champions of Italy, Napoli have put forth a proposition to Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen, offering a two-year extension to his existing contract.
This proposal includes a remuneration package amounting to N6.5bn (equivalent to €6.5m), supplemented by an extra €1m in bonuses.
Osimhen, whose two-year contract with Napoli is up, has asked for a wage increase that would bring his total compensation to €7 million annually.Despite interest from prestigious European teams, Napoli is ready to sign him to a new contract.
According to reports, the recently proposed agreement included a £170 million release clause for the Nigerian forward.
The individual, aged 24, led the Partenopei to their last season championship victory in 33 years by scoring 26 goals in 32 games.
“Napoli is in advanced talks to extend his (Osimhen) contract until 2027 with an increase in salary to €6.5m plus €1m as bonuses,” Skysports revealed on Monday.
Napoli’s newly appointed manager, Rudi Garcia, has affirmed that Osimhen will continue to be a part of the club for the upcoming season.
“Of course, I have spoken to Osimhen who wants to stay here to make another great season with Napoli,” Garcia said.
“I can assure you that he (OsImhen) wants to stay, he is happy to be with us and still wants to do great things.”
With 26 goals and 5 assists in 32 league games for the Partenopei, Osimhen helped Napoli win its first Serie A title in 33 years last season.
Additionally, he created history by becoming the first African to take home the prestigious Capocannoniere trophy in Serie A.
