The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has alerted Nigerians about a faith-based group, Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin, for using the agency’s name to deceive the public by promoting and selling unregistered miracle products.
In a statement signed by its Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, NAFDAC warned that none of the products advertised or sold by the ministry, including “Miracle Water” and “Miracle Soap,” have been approved by the agency.
“NAFDAC wishes to alert the public on the activities of a faith-based organization Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries that uses NAFDAC’s name to deceive the unsuspecting public,” the statement read.
The agency revealed that concerned citizens had filed numerous petitions regarding the ministry’s claims that its products could heal various ailments, including barrenness.
Prophet Fufeyin allegedly promoted these miracle products, stating that they were NAFDAC-approved and would help women conceive twins.
Prof. Adeyeye explained that the products in question include Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, and Pool of Bethsaida Water, among others. “The public began visiting our offices to verify the authenticity of these claims,” she said.
After receiving these complaints, NAFDAC launched an investigation through its Delta State Coordinator.
The coordinator covertly purchased a 25cl bottle of Miracle Water for 3000 naira and confirmed that the ministry was indeed selling the product.
However, when NAFDAC officials visited the ministry, the staff denied producing Miracle Water or Soap, despite evidence of sales.
“They only admitted to using the logo and address on the product labels but denied producing the items,” the agency stated. NAFDAC officials also found resistance during follow-up investigations, with the ministry failing to cooperate and postponing meetings.
On September 3, 2024, the ministry presented legal documents to NAFDAC, claiming they had entered a contract with Globod Table Water for the production of their miracle products.
However, this was done without notifying the Delta State NAFDAC office, which violates regulatory guidelines.
Following this discovery, NAFDAC sealed the Globod Table Water factory for aiding in the illegal production and sale of unregistered miracle products.
“At this point, it is very clear that Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries is not willing to cooperate with the investigation into the production and advertisement of these unregistered products,” Prof. Adeyeye said.
She urged Nigerians to avoid purchasing these miracle products, warning that none are registered with NAFDAC. “NAFDAC is a scientific organization that bases product registration on verifiable scientific facts, not miracle claims,” Adeyeye emphasized.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the health of Nigerians and warned faith-based organizations against producing and selling unregulated products without proper approval.
“We will continue with our investigation into the activities of this faith-based organization,” Prof. Adeyeye assured.
