In a major offensive against bandits in Zamfara State, the Nigerian military conducted precision airstrikes that neutralised more than 100 bandits.
According to The PUNCH, the operation was named ‘MopDemAll’.
According to a reliable source close, the bandits, numbering in large groups, were in transit from a forest in Zamfara State on a mission to attack communities in Kebbi State.
Upon receiving intelligence that troops were positioned along their route, the bandits swiftly retreated back to the Dansadau forest in the Maru Local Government area of Zamfara State.
The Nigerian Airforce then launched an airstrike, engaging the bandits and successfully neutralising over 100 of them, along with their motorcycles.
Several other bandits sustained various degrees of injuries during the operation.
The military spokesperson in the state, Captain Ibrahim Yahaya, confirmed the incident, stating that the troops had effectively neutralised the bandits in Dansadau forest.
However, he did not provide specific numbers regarding the casualties.
Yahaya affirmed, “It is true that our personnel were able to neutralise some bandits who intended to attack some communities.
Many of them were neutralised on the spot, but I cannot provide precise figures.”
