After five hours that seemed like five years, telecom giant, MTN has restored network reach for it’s customers.
The telecom firm had issued a statement in the midst of the brouhaha, stating that data services was unavailable due to a “nationwide downtime.”
It read; “Dear user, we regret to inform you that data services are currently unavailable on MTN due to a nationwide downtime.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. Please bear with us and check back later for updates. Thank you for your understanding.”
However, our correspondent stated from discovery that not only was data services unavailable, regular voice calls and SMS didn’t go through during this ‘downtime’ period.
Although, some people are yet to fully get back online, a number of users are back online.
