The publisher of CrossRiverWatch, Agba Jalingo, has said that journalists need to be collaborative and not be against one another.
The renowned journalist said this while speaking during a Twitter space event organized by The PUNCH on Wednesday to mark the World Press Freedom Day.
The event was tagged: “Media Freedom in Nigeria’s Democratic Space: Barriers and Way Forward”.
Jalingo referred to an instance where he was once antagonized by the government over a report he did but he believed his fellow journalists during that period acted against him and frustrated his efforts.
He stated, “We must make every effort to make sure Nigeria does not criminalize the freedom of speech and freedom of the press.
“The only place where people should be accused of wrong Journalism is the law court.
“Nobody should be harassed. However, the best way to protect ourselves is by bonding.
“Moving forward, I think it’s very important that every journalist should realize that if it is not your turn today it may be tomorrow.”
