In a thrilling Bundesliga encounter on Sunday, Eintracht Frankfurt’s top scorer Omar Marmoush emerged as the hero, netting a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer to secure a 3-3 draw against the league leaders, Bayern Munich, at Deutsche Bank Park.
Marmoush, who has been in sensational form this season, first brought Frankfurt level at 1-1 in the first half, showcasing his agility and precision with a clinical low shot past Bayern’s goalkeeper Manuel Neuer after a lightning-quick counter-attack.
His impressive tally now stands at eight goals in just six league matches, underlining his pivotal role in Frankfurt’s offensive setup.
Bayern, eager to recover from their disappointing midweek Champions League defeat to Aston Villa and a frustrating home draw against Bayer Leverkusen the previous week, opened the scoring in the 15th minute.
Defender Kim Min-jae capitalized on a strong start from the visitors, slotting the ball into the net and igniting hopes of a commanding victory.
However, the joy for Bayern was short-lived as Marmoush equalized just seven minutes later, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.
The match’s tempo was electric, with both teams exchanging blows. In the 35th minute, Marmoush delivered a perfectly timed assist to Hugo Ekitike, who found the back of the net, giving Frankfurt a 2-1 lead.
But Bayern showcased their resilience, responding quickly. Just three minutes later, Dayot Upamecano capitalized on a chaotic goalmouth scramble to score and level the match at 2-2.
The visitors took the lead again in the second half when Michael Olise unleashed a stunning left-footed strike in the 53rd minute, putting Bayern ahead 3-2.
With time running out and tensions mounting, Frankfurt pushed forward desperately in search of an equalizer. In a thrilling finale, Marmoush struck again during added time, completing another fast break and firing home to secure a hard-fought point for Eintracht.
The late goal left Bayern with only one win in their last three matches across all competitions, a situation that has left them clinging to the top of the Bundesliga table with 14 points, ahead of RB Leipzig on goal difference after Leipzig’s 1-0 victory over Heidenheim earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, Eintracht Frankfurt remains a close third with 13 points, continuing to build momentum in their campaign.
