In a statement issued on Monday, the Polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, explained that the closure was necessary to maintain the safety of both students and staff.
Ajibola clarified that the decision was made in response to the ongoing protest concerning the verification of National Diploma results from students’ former institutions.
“The authorities of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, have announced the closure of the Polytechnic effective from Monday, January 13, 2025, until further notice.
This is to ensure the safety of lives and properties due to the protest by some students regarding the decision of the Management to verify their National Diploma results from their previous schools,” Ajibola stated.
The management emphasized its commitment to upholding academic integrity, with a strong stance against the submission of fraudulent results. Ajibola further advised students to stay off campus for their safety, stating, “Management expressed its zero tolerance to fake results from any quarters. Consequently, students are advised to stay away from the campus in their interest.”
