A Nigerian athlete Akinrodoye Samuel, better known as Coach Dreh, swam the entire length of the Third Mainland Bridge in two hours and 33 minutes, covering a total distance of 11.8 km.
This was revealed in a video posted on social media.
Coach Dreh, who is the Chuef Executive Officer of Ocean 28 Swimming Academy, embarked on the impressive feat from Oworonshoki on the mainland to Adeniji Adenle on the Island.
Akinrodoye, on Saturday, swam the length to educate people about swimming against suicide and depression.
In the video, the presence of a standby floating clinic was observed to prevent hazards.
“I’m going to be swimming the entire length of the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge to raise awareness and sensitize the public on mental health, suicide, and depression.
“I have over a decade of experience in the aquatic realm, and swimming means I can do anything and become anything I want with it.
“Mental health is a cause I’m passionate about, and life can be very tough. I think it’s okay to ask for help. Your life can change positively within the blink of an eye; stay alive to witness it,” he said
Today, the 30th March, 2024. A young man defied all odds and daringly swam the 11.8km length of the third mainland bridge in 2hrs33mins50 secs.
He swam against mental health, suicide and depression.
Coach Dreh affirmed that his 10-year career as a swimmer could help him do anything and become anything.
