The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Senator Oluremi Tinubu on her 64th birthday, acknowledging her unwavering dedication to the welfare of Nigerians.
In a statement released by the Speaker’s media office, Dr. Obasa commended the First Lady’s relentless commitment to improving society, lauding her steadfast support for President Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and her vision of an equitable nation.
Describing Senator Tinubu as a beacon of inspiration, Obasa highlighted her impactful work in uplifting the less privileged and her enduring influence as a compassionate leader.
“The First Lady’s love for Nigeria and her contributions to national unity and development are worthy of emulation by every well-meaning citizen,” he said.
Obasa further praised her efforts to combat poverty, particularly among women and children, through her numerous philanthropic endeavors.
“She has consistently touched lives across the country, particularly by helping to lift women and children out of poverty. Through her philanthropic activities, it is noteworthy that Senator Tinubu has continued to etch her name in the history of Nigeria as a politician of repute, a champion of the downtrodden, and an advocate for youth, the elderly, and good governance,” he stated in a message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Eromosele Ebhomele.
Reflecting on her tenure as the First Lady of Lagos State, the Speaker emphasized her longstanding commitment to fostering democratic values in Nigeria.
“Our First Lady has been a great pillar of support for the President as she takes on roles that further unify the country. History will never forget how, alongside Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, she played a part in the struggle that eventually birthed the democracy we now practice in Nigeria,” Dr. Obasa remarked.
He also recalled her role during the pro-democracy struggles, noting, “As a true mother, she ensured that those exiled during the fight against the annulment of the June 12, 1993, presidential election won by Chief MKO Abiola were adequately cared for.”
Senator Tinubu’s tenure as the First Lady of Lagos was marked by significant initiatives, such as the establishment of The Spelling Bee Competition, which has provided numerous children from disadvantaged backgrounds with educational opportunities.
“It is also noted that as First Lady of Lagos State, she made sure that children from less privileged backgrounds were uplifted through educational programs like The Spelling Bee Competition, which, to our delight, has produced great minds and future leaders,” Obasa noted.
As a Senator, her contributions to the growth and development of Lagos have been noteworthy, further solidifying her legacy as an exemplary public servant.
“As a Senator, she stood for initiatives that would contribute to the growth and progress of Lagos in various capacities, making the state proud of her. We can never forget the impact of her New Era Foundation, through which many Nigerians were given fresh reasons to hope and live,” he added.
Concluding his message, the Speaker expressed his admiration and best wishes for Senator Tinubu. “On this occasion of her 64th birthday, I pray, on behalf of my family and colleagues at the Lagos State House of Assembly, that God continues to fill her with His grace, good health, and divine wisdom to carry on with the good work for which we remain proud. Amen.”
