The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, on Wednesday, took significant action against noise pollution and other environmental infractions by sealing multiple religious institutions and establishments across various parts of the state.
This move underscores the agency’s ongoing commitment to enforcing environmental laws and safeguarding public health.
In a statement shared on X, LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, detailed the enforcement operation, which was carried out in key areas including Ikeja, Mushin, Gbagada, and Maryland.
According to him, the crackdown is part of a broader effort to ensure compliance with Lagos State’s stringent environmental regulations.
Among the affected establishments were a diverse range of businesses and religious institutions, including Vital Products Limited, A & P Nigeria Limited, Polite Anchorage and Suites, the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Terrag Inn Apartment, Evening Class Guest House, Celestial Church of God, a local printing press, Charley’s Bar, and 7th Heaven Hotel & Suites. Despite previous warnings from LASEPA, these establishments were found in breach of various environmental regulations, particularly noise pollution.
Ajayi reiterated the agency’s unwavering stance against violations, saying, “We will not tolerate non-compliance with our regulations.”
He further emphasized that all businesses must take their environmental responsibilities seriously and work with the state to foster a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
“All businesses must recognize their environmental responsibilities and collaborate with the State government to ensure a cleaner, more sustainable Lagos,” he added.
This latest enforcement operation highlights the government’s resolve to hold establishments accountable for maintaining environmental standards in the bustling metropolis of Lagos.
