The management of Rosebud School, located in the Idimu area of Lagos State, has expelled three students after their father, Ayofe Kolawole, violently attacked a teacher and a cleaner on October 10, 2024.
The incident, which went viral on social media, has sparked widespread attention.
According to The PUNCH, the school’s Public Relations Officer, Vivian Shonekan confirmed the expulsion during a visit to the school, stating that the school took this action following Kolawole’s assault on Elizabeth Ogri, a teacher, and Agnes Paul, a cleaner.
“The parents came back to apologise, but the school decided the children would not be readmitted,” Shonekan said.
The altercation started when Kolawole stormed into the school looking for his son and allegedly accused Ogri of trying to harm the boy.
A viral video showed Kolawole physically attacking Paul, prompting Ogri to begin filming. Kolawole, upon noticing he was being recorded, turned on Ogri and attempted to stop her from capturing the assault.
Recounting the incident, Paul, a mother of four, shared that she is still recovering from injuries sustained during the attack.
“He suddenly began hitting me, and it took others to stop him. Since then, I’ve been coughing at night and feeling pain in my chest and body,” Paul said, adding that the school has been covering her medical expenses.
Ogri, a teacher at the school for four years, explained that the issue began when one of Kolawole’s children complained of feeling unwell in class.
“I closed the windows and turned off the fan to make him comfortable, but the parents later accused me of attempting to initiate the child with a fetish substance. It was simply kernel oil I had applied for a whitlow,” Ogri explained.
Despite her explanations, Ogri said the parents insisted she sign an undertaking affirming that the oil was harmless. “I eventually signed it to make peace, but I was shocked by the accusations,” she said.
The Lagos State Police Command has since arraigned Kolawole in court. Benjamin Hundeyin, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arraignment via social media, stating, “44-year-old Ayofe Kolawole was arraigned this morning.”
