The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, working alongside the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, has successfully rescued a nine-year-old girl allegedly assaulted by a man identified as Baba Michael.
The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, shared this information in a statement posted on his official X handle, @Mo_ogunlende, on Saturday.
According to him, the incident reportedly occurred at the suspect’s home, located at 4, Azeez Ademola Street, off Anishere, Ayobo.
“This was in response to a viral video posted by Comedienne Princess, who raised alarm to notify the public of the ugly incident.
“The survivor has been placed in protective custody, and she is receiving necessary medical care and psychological support through counseling, ” he said.
He stated that the suspect has been taken into custody, with the Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency overseeing the legal process to ensure justice is served.
Ogunlende emphasized that the prompt response from MYSD and DSVA reflects the Lagos State Government’s strong commitment to safeguarding the rights and welfare of all residents, especially vulnerable individuals.
The commissioner encouraged the public to remain vigilant and report any concerning incidents to the ministry, reinforcing the message: “See Something, Say Something, Sort It Out.”
He reiterated the government’s firm stance against all forms of sexual and gender-based violence, affirming its zero-tolerance policy on such offenses.
