The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Issa Majafara, for allegedly in possession of police uniform.
The command spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday.
Hundeyin explained that the suspect, who has no was fixed address, was arrested on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. by a team of surveillance patrol on Iyana-Iba Market Road in Ojo area of Lagos.
The PPRO disclosed that the suspect was caught in possession of police uniform, with two trousers, one camouflage T-shirt and one police face cap.
“During interrogation, the suspect claimed he picked the uniform from the dustbin.
“The case is under investigation. The suspect will be arraigned in court soon for impersonation,” he said.
Hundeyin then warned members of the public to be vigilant over suspected criminals wearing police and other security uniforms.
While calling on the residents to report to the police any suspected impersonators, he revealed that genuine personnel have their names printed on their uniform.
Hundeyin then charged the residents to reports any person in security uniform they are suspicious of, to the nearest police station or the closest patrol team
